WeCareJax is a non-profit 501(c)3 formed in 1993 to improve access to specialty health care for low-income and uninsured patients. It brings together doctors, hospitals, community clinics, and other partners to improve the health and well-being of the people of Duval County. Annually, WeCareJax coordinates nearly $14 million dollars in donated health care to more than 1,700 low-income individuals who have no access to health insurance.
By matching volunteer specialty care providers and hospital partners with carefully pre-screened patients in need of care, WeCareJax helps meet a critical gap in healthcare access. These are the patients who otherwise would not receive care or would seek care in emergency rooms and further contribute to the current health care burden on hospitals and their communities.
