GiveYoung.org Launches The Cause Finder

Local foundation creates tool to match young people with a non-profit they connect with

Royal Oak, Mich., November 1, 2014 – GiveYoung.org is a Van House Foundation initiative whose main purpose is to help the younger generation learn about giving and volunteering. Recently GiveYoung.org launched The Cause Finder, which is an online tool that helps the next generation find a cause that fits their personality, location and interests. This move takes their event-based educational approach to a new realm on the web.

The younger generation doesn’t always know where to turn to get involved. Some rely on the advice of parents or peers, but most people in their 20s, 30s and even 40s don’t have a great solution for pairing themselves with a cause they care about. Enter GiveYoung.org and its revolutionary Cause Finder.

“The Cause Finder is the next step in helping the younger generation get involved easily and with little intimidation,” said Rick Van House, co-founder and chairman of The Van House Foundation. “The younger demographic needs the extra help finding a cause that fits what they are interested in, and this tool does the work for them.”

Launched in October, this online tool, located at GiveYoung.org, lets you pick an interest, then it plots your location and pairs you with non-profit organizations in the database that fit your interests. “The database is filled mostly with non-profits that have volunteer opportunities,” said Van House. “Those who are 25 years old don’t always have $250 to donate, but they do have the time.”

With holiday and giving season right around the corner, GiveYoung.org hopes that their ever-expanding website will provide the tools and guidance to help the younger generation find their way in the philanthropic world.
