The first CASA program was established in Seattle, Washington in 1977 thanks to the Honorable Judge David Soukup. From this beginning, The National CASA Association was formed in 1984 and now has a network of over 950 CASA programs today. CASA for Kids, Inc. is a member of the National CASA Association and Tennessee CASA Association.
CASA for Kids, Inc. had its beginnings as an umbrella program of CASA of Northeast Tennessee program based in Johnson City, Tennessee. During 1991, concerned citizens in Kingsport incorporated their own program, CASA of Sullivan County.
