We started this event in 1897 – celebrating the American cowboy. Even then, the roping and the riding, the singing and the celebrating had become a trademark of the West. Community leaders planted the seeds of what would become an entertainment extravaganza for the next 125 years… and counting.
We created the Cheyenne Frontier Days Foundation to help tell our story, which is the story of our western heritage. Cowboys are heroes here. The western way of life is cause for celebration and for preservation. We are the keepers of western heritage.
