OUR MISSION

Community Action agencies were established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 during Lyndon Johnson’s presidency and his declaration of the War on Poverty.

In Oklahoma, there are 17 Community Action agencies that provide services to all 77 counties. One of the strengths of Community Action is its local control and local decision making. Also, each community Action agency designs its programs based on the specific needs of the community.
