OUR MISSION

Founded in 2007 by Malawian-born Anna Msowoya-Keys, and based in New York City, Maloto is an American nonprofit organization that raises funds to feed, educate and empower women and children in Malawi. Maloto means “to dream” in Tumbuka language. We help give hope to thousands of Malawians in the norther Mzuzu region, survivors of a depressed economy and the devastating HIV/AIDS epidemic. By supporting local, grassroots, women-led efforts, Maloto helps them deliver holistic support for the community through providing nutritious meals, schools for early childhood and secondary education, tutoring and test prep, a women-owned food=processing cooperative and HIV/AIDS outreach and prevention.
