OUR MISSION

The North Carolina West District of The Wesleyan Church has been established since 1847. In 1843, during the controversy over the Abolition of Slavery in America, many who opposed slavery seceded from the denominations which defended s**** trade and organized The Wesleyan Methodist Church. On October 23, 1847, Rev. Adam Crooks arrived in Guilford County to begin his labors as the first Wesleyan pastor. The Wesleyan Church and the holiness movement began to grow in the South. It encountered persecution, obstruction, and peril. But God was faithful and the church grew.
The Wesleyan Methodist and Pilgrim Holiness churches joined together 1968 to form The Wesleyan Church. With that merger came a rich history.
